2023 Stockton Cup Off and Running

On Wednesday at Olde Providence Racquet Club, the 2023 Stockton cup got underway. On a balmy day in the queen city, play began late in the afternoon and went well into the evening.


In singles, top-seed Thomas Brown received a first round bye but defending champion Bekhzod Rasamatov advanced after a 6-2 6-0 win against Renat Kramin. Kramin was the 2022 back draw champion.


Elsewhere, third-seeded Eduardo Taiguara Costa Dias advanced to the round-of-32 after a 6-0 6-0 victory against Charles Hildebrand. Fourth-seeded Vasco Prata moved on with a 6-3 6-0 win against Graham Bourne.


In doubles, the top-two seeds had the day off with byes, but the third-seeded team of

Dreycopp/Iturbe and 4th-seeded team of Gloria/Prata both advanced to the next round.


Play resumes on Thursday at 4pm with singles action followed by more doubles.
